FIELD MANUAL / SUPPORT

Get your documents live.

A practical guide to preparing PDFs, reviewing releases and checking the product page.

Open SpecVault

In Shopify admin, choose Apps → SpecVault. Use your Shopify account; there is no separate SpecVault password. If you have not installed the app, open its listing from Shopify when it becomes available.

Publish your first document

  1. Upload a PDF you are authorized to share in Shopify admin → Content → Files. Use a separate file for each edition.
  2. Open SpecVault → Document Library and sync PDFs. Select a ready file with an accessible URL.
  3. Create a document draft with its type, language and edition. Link it to the relevant models, which are Shopify product variants.
  4. Open Releases, review the proposed references, then have an authorized approver approve publication. Check the result for every model.

Saving a draft or model association does not publish it. A review can have partial or failed results; inspect those before telling shoppers a document is available.

Show it on the product page

Choose an Online Store 2.0 theme with a JSON product template; vintage themes are not supported. In the theme editor, open that product template. In Dawn or Horizon, add the SpecVault Documents app block inside Product information and save. You can reposition or remove the block and change its heading and “Hide when empty” setting in the editor.

Check a product with published PDFs and switch between variants to confirm the right document follows each selection. The block can hide itself when a selected variant has no published documents; turn off “Hide when empty” to show its empty message. Dynamic switching is implemented for Dawn and Horizon product variant events. Other themes may need theme-specific work, so test the exact theme and product page. Missing or changed source files should be investigated in Checks and Releases.

Revisions and withdrawal

Add a revision with a separate Shopify PDF, review the targets and approve it. Replacing an existing Shopify file can change what an older link downloads. To return to a previous edition, select a previously verified revision and review the new operation. To remove a storefront reference, review and approve a withdrawal. Archiving a document by itself does not remove an existing publication.

Withdrawal does not delete the source file, revoke copies already downloaded, or immediately clear external caches.
